A Quickie

While I was waiting for my meeting to start on Tuesday at the UNED campus in Buenos Aires, I noticed some hand written posters on the wall listing some 15 odd successes of the past year. One of them read:

Igualdad de género:

74% de estudiantes son mujeres.

(Gender Equality:

74% of students are women.)

Several minutes later one of the other members of the consejo arrived. She is a young, bright and witty University student. I directed her attention to the poster and read it out loud. She looked at me puzzled as if to say, “And?”. I read it out loud again. After about 10 seconds her eyes lit up, she looked at me, smiled at me and said, “Ah sí, ya entiendo.” (Ah yes. I undertand now.)
